Knobs
TONE (RAMP)
With no ramping assigned, this is a tone control for the wobbly part of your sound only — it never touches your clean/dry signal. Straight up is neutral. Turn it right to thin out the bass and brighten; turn it left to darken and remove treble. When you're using the pedal's ramping feature, this same knob controls how long the ramp takes to happen.
tip: When dialing in chorus, keep coming back to this knob — TONE and MIX are very interactive and small moves here shape whether chorus sounds bright and glassy or dark and thick.

Adjusts the tone of only the wet (vibrato) signal path; noon is transparent, clockwise cuts low frequencies, counterclockwise cuts high frequencies. When a ramping dip switch or expression pedal is assigned, this knob instead sets the ramp time.
LAG
Turning this up nudges the wobbly signal slightly later than your dry signal, which is what makes chorus sound big and dimensional. The more you turn it up, the lusher — but also slightly noisier — it gets.
tip: For pure vibrato (MIX fully wet), keep LAG all the way counterclockwise so there's no delay between picking a note and hearing it, and for the quietest possible sound.

Sets the delay time (latency) between the wet and dry signal paths. Clockwise increases the delay for a lusher chorus but also adds slightly more noise to the wet path.
MIX
This decides how much effect you hear. Fully clockwise is pure vibrato (only the wobbly sound). Fully counterclockwise is basically your dry sound. Anywhere in the middle mixes the two, which is what creates chorus.
tip: Park it around noon for classic chorus, and tweak TONE at the same time — they work together to shape chorus character.

RPM
How fast the pitch wobbles. Left is slow and seasick, right is fast and fluttery. If you tap a tempo with the footswitch, that tap speed takes over from this knob.
tip: Slow RPM plus high DEPTH gives the signature warped-record droop; fast RPM with low DEPTH gives a shimmery Leslie-like flutter.

DEPTH
How far the pitch bends up and down. A little gives gentle warble; crank it clockwise for extreme, dramatic pitch-bending seasickness.
tip: When using an expression pedal to control the waveform directly (a 'whammy' effect), set DEPTH fully clockwise for the maximum pitch sweep.

Controls how wide the pitch modulation swings. HiFi has a wider range than previous versions.
WARP
This tilts the shape of the wobble so it's lopsided in one direction or the other. At noon the pitch rises and falls evenly. Turn it either way to make the wobble feel like it snaps one direction and drifts back the other — great for uneven, organic movement.
tip: Combine WARP with the two wave-shape toggles (the ModuShape engine) for unusual, jittery, or lurching motions you can't get from a normal vibrato.

Sets the center point / asymmetry of the modulation waveform. Counterclockwise makes the wave ramp up quickly and down gradually; clockwise makes it ramp up gradually and down quickly; noon is a perfectly symmetric wave.

LEFT WAVE SHAPE TOGGLE
Sets the shape of the first half of each wobble cycle. Sine is smooth and rounded, triangle is a bit more angular, square jumps abruptly between pitches.
tip: Mixing a smooth shape on one half with a square shape on the other (using the right toggle) creates stutter-and-glide hybrid waves that feel truly warped.

RIGHT WAVE SHAPE TOGGLE
Sets the shape of the second half of each wobble cycle. Note it's reversed from the left toggle — here square is on the left and sine is on the right. Combining the two toggles lets you design custom wave shapes for the pitch movement.
tip: Set left to sine and right to sine (both smooth) for classic vibrato; introduce square on either side for choppy, glitchy movement.

Selects the shape of the second half of the modulation waveform: left = square, middle = triangle, right = sine. Together with DEPTH and the left toggle it forms the ModuShape engine.
1/2/4 (3/6/8) (R/-/+) TOGGLE
In normal use this decides how the pedal divides up the tempo you tap in — letting the wobble run at the tapped speed, or twice or four times as fast. Flip a rear dip switch and this same toggle instead controls the 'hold' behavior of the left footswitch: 'R' for ramp, '-' to momentarily kill the vibrato while you hold the switch, '+' to momentarily add it.
tip: Leave it on a straightforward division at first. Only dig into the R/-/+ meanings once you've enabled Hold mode via the rear dip switch.

A three-position toggle that sets the tap-tempo subdivision (1, 2, or 4 — or 3, 6, 8 if the rear tap-division dip switch is set to '3'). When the rear Hold dip switch is on, it instead selects R/-/+ hold functions. Divisions are 2x slower when applied to ramping.
LOWER TOGGLE (Preset selector)
This is your preset switch. Middle means 'use whatever the knobs are physically set to right now.' Flip left or right to instantly jump to a saved sound. If you turn a knob after recalling a preset, the little light dims to warn you the preset has been changed but not re-saved.
tip: To save the RIGHT preset: hold the right (bypass) footswitch 3 seconds, then hold both footswitches together 3 seconds until the LED blinks. For the LEFT preset, start by holding the left (tap) footswitch instead.

Recalls presets. Right position recalls one saved preset, left recalls another, middle reflects the current live knob/switch/dip positions. The LED above it dims when a recalled preset has been altered.
Footswitches
BYPASS Footswitch
The on/off stomp for the effect. It's true bypass, so when off your signal passes through completely clean and untouched. You can make it momentary — active only while your foot holds it down — using a rear dip switch.
tip: Also used in the preset-saving sequence (hold it 3 seconds to begin saving the right preset slot).

Activates or bypasses the effect using a true-bypass relay. Can be set to momentary (only on while held) via the MoToByp rear dip switch.
TAP/HOLD Footswitch
Tap it in rhythm to set the wobble speed by ear. If you've turned on Hold mode via the rear dip switch, holding this footswitch instead triggers a ramp, or momentarily stops/starts the wobble depending on the front toggle position.
tip: It always follows your last two taps, so you can update the tempo on the fly mid-song with a couple of stomps.

In normal mode, sets tap tempo (honors the last two taps). In Hold mode (enabled by rear dip switch), holding it triggers ramping, or momentarily deactivates the LFO ('-' toggle position) or momentarily activates it ('+' position).

Preset/Status LED
The little light that tells you what's going on: it shows the effect is on, blinks when you successfully save a preset, and goes dim to warn you that you've changed a preset without re-saving it.
tip: If the light is dim after recalling a preset, you've moved something — save again if you want to keep the change.

Left dip-switch bank (Lag, Mix, RPM, Depth, Warp, Bounce, Hold, MoToByp)
This bank of tiny switches assigns which knobs the ramp/expression system can move (turn a parameter's switch on to include it), and flips several behavior modes: Bounce for back-and-forth motion versus one-way-and-stay, Hold to unlock the footswitch's hold tricks, and MoToByp to make bypass momentary.
tip: Ignore these entirely until you're comfortable with the basic sound — Chase Bliss recommends it. Remember: ramping always resets when you bypass the pedal.

Eight dip switches. Lag/Mix/RPM/Depth/Warp turn each parameter on or off for ramping or expression/CV control. Bounce makes ramped parameters modulate back and forth (on) versus ramp-and-hold (off). Hold enables the Hold mode for the tap footswitch and the R/-/+ toggle functions. MoToByp makes the bypass footswitch momentary.
Right dip-switch bank (Lag, Mix, RPM, Depth, Warp, Control, Division, Sweep)
This bank fine-tunes how the assigned parameters move: which direction they travel (up or down), whether your tap sets the wobble speed or the ramp speed, whether extra tap subdivisions are available, and whether a sweep runs from the current knob setting up to full or down to zero.
tip: Use Sweep together with a knob's physical position to precisely limit an expression pedal's range — e.g. set MIX at noon and Sweep to Top to sweep from a set amount of chorus up to full wet.

Plug in an expression pedal here to sweep parameters with your foot, or feed it control voltage from other gear. With no parameter selected on the dip switches, it directly controls the waveform for a 'whammy'-style pitch sweep. Which parameter it controls, and its range, are set with the rear dip switches and the knob positions.
tip: To set the sweep range, position the target knob where you want the sweep to end and use the 'Sweep' dip switch (Top = sweeps up to max, Bottom = sweeps down to min).

What it is
The higher-fidelity revision with a cleaner analog signal path and expanded warp/ramping controls for lush chorus and pitch-wobble textures.
The Chase Bliss Audio Warped Vinyl HiFi is an analog vibrato and chorus pedal with a digital brain. It was originally designed to imitate the wobbly, pitch-warbling sound of a warped vinyl record, but it does far more than that: it can produce everything from subtle, watery shimmer to seasick, pitch-bending wobble to lush, three-dimensional chorus. Your guitar signal stays 100% analog the whole time and is never converted to digital — the digital part only controls the knobs and switches behind the scenes, which is how this pedal offers tricks (presets, ramping, expression control) that traditional analog pedals can't.
Sound-wise, 'vibrato' means the pitch itself wobbles up and down; 'chorus' means you blend that wobbly signal with your original dry signal so it sounds thicker and shimmery, like more than one instrument. Warped Vinyl HiFi lets you dial anywhere between those. The 'HiFi' version adds a dedicated LAG knob for richer chorus, lower background noise, and brighter, more transparent tones than earlier versions, plus a wider, wilder vibrato range.
This is a deep pedal, but you can ignore that depth entirely at first. The six knobs and two waveform toggles give you a huge palette on their own. The rear dip switches, presets, tap tempo, and expression/CV control are advanced extras you can grow into later. Chase Bliss themselves recommend forgetting about the dip switches until you know the basic sound.
First session: get a sound out of it
- 01Plug your guitar into the IN jack (right side) and your amp into the OUT jack (left side).
- 02Power the pedal with a standard 9V center-negative adapter (2.1mm) — it needs about 70mA, so don't use a weak supply. A 9V battery also works.
- 03Set the LOWER TOGGLE (small switch near the footswitches) to the MIDDLE position so the pedal follows your live knob settings rather than a saved preset.
- 04Start simple: MIX fully clockwise (100% wet) for pure vibrato, LAG fully counterclockwise (no latency), TONE at noon, and DEPTH around 9 o'clock for a gentle wobble.
- 05Set RPM around 11–1 o'clock for a medium speed. Set WARP straight up at noon for an even, symmetric wobble. Set both wave-shape toggles to the left/middle for a smooth sine or triangle shape.
- 06Step on the BYPASS footswitch (right footswitch) to turn the effect on, and play. You should hear the pitch gently wobbling.
- 07For chorus instead of vibrato, roll MIX back toward noon to blend in your dry signal, then turn LAG up a little and play with TONE — those two interact strongly for chorus tones.
- 08Tap a steady rhythm on the TAP/HOLD footswitch (left footswitch) to set the wobble speed by ear.
How the sound flows
Your guitar plugs into the IN jack on the right side of the pedal. From there the signal splits into two paths: a 'dry' path that stays untouched, and a 'wet' path that gets the analog vibrato (pitch wobble) applied to it. The RPM, DEPTH, WARP, and the two wave-shape toggles decide how fast, how wide, and what shape the pitch wobble is. The LAG knob delays the wet path slightly to create that lush chorus feel, and the TONE knob brightens or darkens only the wet path. Finally, the MIX knob blends the dry and wet paths together — all dry (bypassed sound), all wet (pure vibrato), or a blend (chorus). The combined result leaves through the OUT jack on the left side. When the pedal is bypassed it uses a true-bypass relay, so your signal passes through completely untouched.
Questions owners actually ask
What's the difference between vibrato and chorus on this pedal, and how do I get each?+
Vibrato is pure pitch wobble with none of your dry signal — set MIX fully clockwise (100% wet) and keep LAG all the way down. Chorus is that wobble blended with your clean sound so it thickens up — roll MIX back toward noon and turn up LAG. TONE strongly shapes chorus, so tweak it alongside MIX.
How do I set the wobble speed with my foot?+
Tap a steady rhythm on the left TAP/HOLD footswitch — it follows your last two taps and overrides the RPM knob. The front 1/2/4 toggle lets you run the wobble at the tapped speed or twice/four times faster.
How do I save and recall a sound?+
The lower toggle picks presets: middle = live knobs, left and right = two saved slots. To save the right slot, hold the right (bypass) footswitch for 3 seconds, then hold both footswitches together for 3 more seconds until the LED blinks. For the left slot, start with the left (tap) footswitch. If the LED dims after recalling a preset, you've changed something and need to re-save.
Why is there background noise, and how do I reduce it?+
Turning up the LAG knob adds a little noise to the wet path — that's normal for how it creates lush chorus. For the quietest sound (especially in pure vibrato), keep LAG all the way counterclockwise. The HiFi version is already lower-noise than earlier Warped Vinyls.
Do the dip switches matter for basic use?+
No. All the dip switches control advanced ramping, expression, tap, and hold behaviors. You can leave them alone and get the full range of vibrato and chorus sounds from just the six knobs and two wave toggles. Chase Bliss specifically recommends ignoring them until you know the pedal.
Can I use an expression pedal, and what does it do?+
Yes — plug a TRS expression pedal into the EXP/CV jack. Which parameter it controls is set by the left dip-switch bank; its range is set by that knob's position and the Sweep dip switch. If no parameter is assigned, the expression pedal directly controls the waveform for a 'whammy'-style pitch sweep (set DEPTH fully clockwise for maximum range).
What power supply does it need?+
A standard 9V DC center-negative adapter with a 2.1mm plug, or a 9V alkaline battery. It draws about 70mA, so make sure your power supply can provide that.
What is the WARP knob actually for?+
It makes the wobble lopsided. At noon the pitch rises and falls evenly. Turn it counterclockwise and the pitch snaps up quickly then drifts back down slowly; turn it clockwise for the opposite. This gives the modulation a more organic, uneven, warped-record feel.
